Sketchbooks are where I go to play, and where I have no constraints. They are where the seeds of new characters, colours, patterns, and textures are sown, and I never underestimate the power of the humble pencil.  Other media include ink, coloured pencils, acrylic paint, oil paint, collage, linocut, and mono printing often scanned into my computer for a digital makeover.
